Ovum (Egg) Donation Process
Application
We will provide you with instructions to access our online application form after you have successfully completed our
online initial screening form. Please complete the
application carefully. Your application will be carefully reviewed by our staff. We will contact you to discuss our program and to verify your application information. Then we will condense the information you provide us into about four pages. The
pictures you include with your application are very important to the clients. Pictures should show you at your best.
Medical Testing
You will be required to have blood tests and vaginal/cervical swabs performed to test for various diseases.
IARC® will contact you to provide you with a list of
medical tests that you will need to complete before your treatment will start. These tests will be completed in your hometown, and the results must be faxed to your fertility clinic for review. If you need assistance, IARC® will provide guidance.
Psychological Testing
You will participate in an interview with a licensed clinical counselor to discuss the emotional impact of ovum donation. You may then be referred for an MMPI-2 and a more thorough psychological evaluation, if necessary. Your application will then be circulated to various clients who require an ovum donor.
Matching Process
Your identifying information (full name, address, employer, social security number, driver's license number)
will not be given to the clients or to the children who are born as a result of this donation unless you expressly permit us to do so.
Legal Documentation
Once you have been matched with a client, you will need to sign legal documents that outline all payments and conditions of your treatment. You will
relinquish all legal parental rights to any embryos that are created or children who are born as a result of your egg donation. You will not receive any identifying information about the children or embryos.
Birth Control
It is important that you use an effective barrier
method of contraception or abstinence during the month of the egg retrieval to prevent you from becoming pregnant or from contracting any disease.
Medical Procedures
Once accepted into the program and matched with a couple, your program requires you, the ovum donor, to take
fertility medications that increase the number of eggs you will produce in one cycle. At the same time, the potential mother will take medications to regulate her cycle so that it will be timed with yours. When you near the time of ovulation, you will travel to the fertility center (with travel, accommodations, meals and child care paid) to receive daily blood and ultrasound tests to check your hormone levels and follicle (egg) development. The eggs will be retrieved under a semi-anesthetic.
